Thanksgiving Holiday- Dos and Don’ts
Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Most of us are excited by what this season brings- food, lots and lots of food, family, shopping, etc. However, for those applying to college, this can be a very stressful time. When are my applications due (which ones are EA and do I have any ED?), the FAFSA (oh yeah, I was supposed to submit that!), and scholarships (my brain can’t even process all of this, plus my schoolwork). Don’t fret, here are my Thanksgiving break dos and don’ts (in order).
Do your FAFSA! If you haven’t already, this is a great time to sit down (with your parents) and get it done. It isn’t as much fun as making cookies and decorating the house, but it won’t take you too long and deadlines are right around the corner.
Make time for family and friends. Yes, there is always another edit you can make to your application, but you also need to make time to spend with those you care about (just make sure you did your FAFSA already).
Check (and recheck) your submission dates. This break is a good time to make sure you have everything in order for upcoming deadlines- including your FAFSA.
Do something nice for someone else. This is the time to be thankful and the best way to show someone you are thankful for them is to do something nice for them. Not sure what to do, Michelle Schroeder-Gardner has some great ideas if you follow this link.
But, truly and honestly, the most important thing you can do for your future self during this break is to make sure that your FAFSA gets done.
